Each training area is designed to reflect real job site conditions and industry standards, ensuring our graduates are ready for employment or advanced certification.

 

Below are the core training modules offered in our program:

Construction Foundations

Overview:
This foundational unit introduces students to the building blocks of construction. Students gain a comprehensive understanding of residential construction practices and worksite safety.

Skills Covered:

  • Basic framing and structural design

  • Measuring, cutting, and assembling wood

  • Drywall installation and repair

  • Concrete mixing, pouring, and finishing

  • Blueprint reading and interpretation

  • Safe use of hand and power tools

  • Jobsite setup and cleanup procedures

 

Project Example:
Students may work together to build a small storage shed or wall frame mock-up to simulate real-world framing techniques.

Construction Management

Fire Features

Overview:
Students apply design and building skills to create functional outdoor living features. This project-based unit emphasizes creativity, collaboration, and craftsmanship.

Skills Covered:

  • Site preparation and project planning

  • Brick and stone cutting and placement

  • Cement mixing and masonry techniques

  • Installing gas lines (where applicable)

  • Finishing work including sealing, painting, and detailing

  • Customer service skills when working on real client projects

 

Project Example:
Each class collaborates on fire feature repairs or outdoor kitchen installation for a community space or local partner.

Plumbing Essentials

Overview:
This unit prepares students for entry-level plumbing jobs with a focus on safety, accuracy, and system installation.

Skills Covered:

  • Installing PVC, PEX, and copper pipe systems

  • Soldering and sealing pipe joints

  • Installing and repairing faucets, toilets, sinks, and drains

  • Water pressure testing and leak detection

  • Reading plumbing schematics

  • Tool identification and safe handling

  • Understanding residential plumbing codes and best practices

 

Project Example:
Students build a working mock bathroom system, installing a toilet, sink, and faucet connected to a test water line.

Plumber

CPR & Safety Certification

Overview:
Safety is critical in every trade. This module ensures students are equipped with the training and certifications required to enter job sites responsibly.

Certifications & Skills Covered:

  • Adult and child CPR certification (American Red Cross or equivalent)

  • Basic first aid techniques

  • OSHA-aligned safety training

  • Hazard identification and reporting

  • Personal protective equipment (PPE) use

  • Emergency response planning

  • Workplace injury prevention

 

Outcome:
All students earn CPR certification and complete a safety exam that prepares them for entry-level work in any skilled trade.

Residential Gas Line Installation

Overview:
Gas line installation is a high-skill, high-responsibility area that introduces students to pressure testing and utility safety protocols.

Skills Covered:

  • Identifying gas system components

  • Pipe threading, bending, and joint fitting

  • Leak testing and pressure checks

  • Installing flexible and rigid gas piping

  • Understanding gas code compliance

  • Safe handling of fuel lines and shut-off valves

  • Project planning and material estimation

 

Project Example:
Students practice installing a gas line connection for outdoor grills or stoves in a controlled, supervised lab environment.

Appliance Installation

Overview:
This unit trains students to install and connect common residential appliances. Instruction includes mechanical, plumbing, and electrical knowledge.

Skills Covered:

  • Connecting appliances to gas, water, and electrical lines

  • Mounting and leveling techniques

  • Appliance testing and troubleshooting

  • Reading manufacturer specifications and installation manuals

  • Preventative maintenance

  • Customer interaction and basic service etiquette

 

Project Example:
Students practice full installations of washers, dryers, stoves, and dishwashers in mock apartment-style setups.

Home Weatherization

Overview:
With energy efficiency in demand, this module gives students the knowledge to identify and improve a home's insulation and air quality.

Skills Covered:

  • Conducting home energy assessments

  • Installing insulation (fiberglass, spray foam, etc.)

  • Sealing air leaks in walls, doors, windows, and attics

  • Ventilation best practices

  • Installing weather stripping and caulking

  • Understanding home energy ratings and audits

  • Tools and materials for energy retrofits

 

Project Example:
Students complete a mock weatherization on a test home wall unit, applying sealing, caulking, and insulation techniques.
